Often relegated to a side dish or sandwich topping, social media has turned this fruit into a sensation seemingly overnight. The cucumber trend was popularized on TikTok by creator Logan Moffitt, who goes by the username @logagm. He posted his first cucumber video in early July and since then has taken over explore pages across various platforms, inspiring other creators to join in on his cucumber craze. His videos all start and end in a similar fashion—with Moffitt slicing an entire cucumber into a plastic container using a mandolin. He then tops the cucumber slices with an array of ever-changing ingredients, shakes it all up, and dives in with a pair of metal chopsticks. 9 Cool, Crunchy Cucumber Salad Recipes to Make Right Now In one of his most viral cucumber videos, which has amassed an impressive 10 million views, Moffitt opts for a mixture of soy sauce, fish sauce, sugar, MSG ("obviously"), a lot of sesame oil, grated garlic, green onion, and toasted sesame seeds. Since his rise to TikTok stardom, Moffitt has shared many other cucumber creations with his audience. Another popular iteration of the snack is a twist on a lox bagel—sans bread. After slicing up his cucumber, Moffitt adds sliced red onion, chopped smoked salmon, whipped chive cream cheese, capers, half an avocado, salt, pepper, MSG, and bagel seasoning.
