Quaker Oats Just Recalled More Than 40 of Its Most Popular Products Nationwide

If granola or cereal is your go-to breakfast, you may want to check your pantry. Quaker Oats has issued a nationwide recall of its granola bars and granola cereals due to possible salmonella contamination, according to a press release by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA).

The recall includes more than 40 products from the brand, including Quaker Big Chewy Bars Chocolate Chip, Quaker On The Go Snack Mix, Quaker Puffed Granola Apple Cinnamon Cereal, and Quaker Simply Granola Oats, Honey & Almonds Cereal. The recall also affects certain Frito-Lay snack boxes, which may contain Quaker Oats granola bars.

The products were sold throughout all 50 United States, Puerto Rico, Guam, and Saipan. Despite how widespread the recall is, Quaker Oats has received no confirmed reports of illness related to the products covered by this recall. 

According to the FDA, salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy individuals infected with the organism often experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.
