Experience

As a young child, Haniya spent countless hours in the garden with both her maternal and paternal grandparents, learning how to plant and care for trees and shrubs. Her first job was as a storekeeper for her mother's floral design shop and garden center. She has always loved terrariums and small ecosystems and has written about landscapes and plants for nearly a decade, but it wasn't until the pandemic that she tried her hand at plant propagation within her 600-square-foot Brooklyn apartment. She fell in love with starting plants from seed during the pandemic as a way to pass time and hopes to continue to do so for the rest of her life.

Education

Haniya has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art.
