The original recall was announced on April 18 and affected 2.5-ounce packages of Infinite Herbs fresh organic basil, which were sold between February 1 and April 6, 2024. Now, the recall has been expanded to include Melissa's brand fresh organic basil in 2-ounce and 4-ounce packages. The recalled products bear the following UPC codes: Infinite Herbs fresh organic basil (2.5-ounce package): UPC 8 18042 02147 7Melissa's fresh organic basil (2-ounce package): UPC 0 45255 14142 9Melissa's fresh organic basil (4-ounce package): UPC 0 45255 14439 0 More Than 50,000 Vegetable Choppers Recalled Nationwide Due to Laceration Reports Per the FDA, the recalled products were shipped directly to Trade Joe’s retail distribution centers in Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Virginia and to two Fruit Center Marketplace stores in Massachusetts. So far, 12 reports of salmonella infection have been linked to the recall. However, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that this outbreak may not be limited to the states with known illnesses, and the true number of sick people is likely much higher than the number reported. The recalled product is no longer available for purchase, but consumers are urged to check their refrigerators and freezers and not consume the recalled organic basil if they have it, the FDA urges.
