Simply cut the corks in half and use them to give new life to a plain drink tray or a set of coasters. What You'll Need

Equipment / Tools

  • Utility knife
  • Cutting mat
  • Hot glue
  • Epoxy
  • Ruler
  • Pencil

Materials

  • Corks
  • Drink tray
  • Coasters

Instructions

  1. Cut the corks:

    Cut the corks in half so they lay flat; we crafted a holder to keep the corks in place to cut them safely. Tip: steaming the corks will make them easier to cut.

  2. Line the tray:

    Line a tray with corks until the entire surface is covered. Make sure the corks are level so your drinks won't spill.

  3. Cover the corks with epoxy:

    Pour epoxy resin over the corks to make a waterproof seal.

  4. Blow dry the epoxy resin:

    Use a hair dry to remove air bubbles to speed up drying time. Allow to dry thoroughly before using.

  5. Apply hot glue to the corks:

    Now move onto the coasters. Apply hot glue to the back of each cork.

  6. Line the coasters:

    Place the corks so they line the surface of the coaster. Make sure the corks are level so your drinks won't spill.
