The recall affects some 32-ounce bags of Great Value Organic Black Chia Seeds. The products were sold at Walmart locations nationwide. The recalled products can be identified by the following information:

  • Lot code: 24095 C018
  • Expiration date: October 30, 2026
  • UPC: 078742300665

To date, there have been no reported illnesses linked to the recall. But if you have purchased chia seeds with the above information, the FDA is urging consumers to throw away them away immediately. Natural Sourcing International will provide a replacement product upon proof of purchase.

Per the FDA, salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy individuals infected with salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.
