More than 20,000 pounds beef products have been recalled by South American Meat Inc., also known as 5Gogi LLC, according to an announcement by the United States Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The products were recalled because they were not presented to FSIS for import reinspection upon entry into the U.S. The items were imported from Uruguay on or around March 17, 2024 and were shipped to distributors, restaurants, retailers, and institutions in Arizona, California, Oregon, and Washington.

Per FSIS, the frozen raw beef products subject to the recall bear the establishment number "58," which is printed inside the Uruguay inspection mark located on the shipping box and vacuum sealed product packaging.

While there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products, anyone concerned about a reaction should container their healthcare provider. FSIS is concerned that some products may be in consumers' freezers and is urging anyone who purchased the product to throw it away or return it to the place of purchase.

Consumers with additional questions can contact Tim Yu, accountant and logistics director for South American Meat Inc., by phone at 310-720-5258 or via email at samincusa@gmail.com, FSIS states.
